Crabapple Grove Restoration

Most of Brookdale Park's ornamental flowering tree groves, an important element of the park's original planting plan, have died off and this project is the first of many by the Conservancy that will begin to restore our Olmsted groves and provide the park with trees that offer multi-seasonal interest with fragrant spring flowers, summer berries, fall color foliage and interesting bark.

At 10am on Saturday, October 26th, we are organizing volunteers to plant ten trees purchased through the Conservancy's Annual Fund. Our sincere gratitude goes out to Martin O'Boyle Landscaping of Bloomfield, NJ for donating tree auger services and to the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs for suppling mulch. Send in an RSVP via email if you are interested in rolling up your sleeves and helping us get the trees planted.
